Risk Assessment
CONDOK helps companies and local authorities with efficiently carried out and well-founded risk assessment.
Risk assessment is the basis for efficient occupational safety, meaning the prevention of accidents at work and health hazards as well as for designing safe and healthy work stations. It is used to reduce disturbances during work and helps to decide what kind of measures must be taken for occupational safety and health.
Legal basis is the German Occupational Safety and Health Act (Arbeitsschutzgesetz). It applies to all places of activity, excluding private households. Furthermore, a couple of regulations of this act contain special provisions for risk assessment and its documentation, e.g.:
- German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health (BetrSichV)
- German Ordinance on VDU Display Work (BildscharbV)
- German Ordinance on Biological Agents (BioStoffV)
- German Ordinance on Hazardous Substances (GefStoffV)
- German Ordinance on Handling Loads (LasthandhabV)
- German Employment Restrictions Concerning Pregnant and Lactating Women (MuSchArbV)
- German Accident Prevention Regulations (BGV)
The typical risk assessment procedure includes:
Determining the tasks
- Choosing the subjects of investigation
- Identifying the concerned group of people
- Briefing the executive staff and employees on goals and modus operandi
Identifying hazards
- Hazards associated with the work place
- Hazards associated with the work, work station and profession
- Hazards associated with working materials
- Group of people at risk
Evaluation
- Comparison with standardized protection goals
- Comparison with approved and safe solutions and measures
Developing and enforcing measures and verifying the efficiency
Documenting the results
- Present hazards
- Chosen measures
- Results of the effectiveness test
OSIMA®

To carry out and document the risk assessment, CONDOK uses the TÜV-approved software application OSIMA®.

OSIMA® is developed by ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH in Fürstenfeldbruck and is used to efficiently realize the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health, especially for:
- Carrying out risk assessment procedures
- Developing and realizing safety measures
- Verifying the accordance with acts, directives, standards and guidelines
OSIMA® is not only used to carry out the risk assessment procedure systematically and to ensure the conformity with the German Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health, but also to prove a duly procedure to the surveillance authorities.
