In addition to the good qualification of our internal Translation Managers and to the right selection of external translators, further quality assurance measures need to be taken for every project to get the best results. Our processes are certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008.
Preliminary measures
- Source text analysis: identifying target audience, target market, intended use etc.
- Determination of the customer's contact person for technical questions
- Compilation of all necessary data / helpful references for the translator (source text including illustrations, reference projects, Translation Memories, company terminology, etc.)
- Preparation of a translation specification for the translator (style guide, handling of proper names, abbreviations, etc.)
Accompanying measures
- Replying to the translators' questions concerning content and linguistic problems
- Process supervision with our Translation Tracker
- Documentation of changes, which were made in the source text by the customer during the translation process, with our Translation Tracker
Proofreading:
- Standard process: The translator checks his/her translation in a PDF, which includes the right layout and illustrations for the context; A CONDOK Translation Manager checks formal aspects and if possible the content as well (quality report)
- If requested by customer: A second translator checks the translation as well
- If requested by customer: CONDOK manages the proofreading cycles with the customer's proofreaders (e.g. from the subsidiaries) using e.g. official approval documents
- Ensuring that Translation Memories and terminology databases are corrected as well
- Layout check of the final text carried out by a second member of the project team
Closing measures
- Update of our translator database by evaluating the quality reports
- Evaluation of the project-related comments, which have been entered in our Translation Tracker, for identifying processes in need of improvement (in the context of CIP – continuous improvement process)
