CONDOK offers you a broad range of language services:
We prepare translations from a wide range of specialist areas into all common languages and language variants, maintain terminology, lay out the target language documents and advise you on all questions relating to the translation process.
The most important thing in professional language services is quality – and that applies not only to the actual translation, but also to the service. If you set high standards for the quality of your products and services and want this to be reflected in your translations, then we are the right partner for you.
Terminology
The development of a reliable corporate terminology starts with you – because the right target language term can only be identified if a correct definition is available for a term in the source language and a corresponding designation has been assigned.
We can help you to develop and maintain your terminology using terminology databases. In addition to the terms themselves, definitions, context and source information, synonyms and status can be clearly recorded and directly integrated into the translation process.
The benefits for you:
- Simplified in-house communications
- Improved readability of the texts
- Potential development of corporate language as a marketing instrument
- Higher-quality translations with less need for corrections
- Greater legal security
Price transparency
Whether you need documents ready to print or "just" a rough translation for internal use – we will provide you with a customized offer tailored exactly to your needs.
The prices for our translation services are generally made up as follows:
- translation price per word, based on the source language word count, and
- costs on an hourly rate basis for translation management, quality assurance and other activities such as DTP, terminology maintenance, correction management with your branch offices, etc.
DTP / foreign language typesetting
Every text that is to be published needs a few cosmetic improvements once it has been translated, as differences will arise in the layout due to differences in text lengths. Knowledge of the language in question is needed not just for the translation but also for the target language conventions.
But our DTP services go much further: On request, we also create completely new layouts and graphics according to customer specifications.
The tools we use include:
- Adobe FrameMaker, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- XML, HTML, SGML
- AutoCAD
CAT tools
We use a translation memory system linked to a terminology management software – professional tools for computer-aided translation (CAT).
A translation memory, together with a terminology database, forms the basis for consistent translations: while the TM contains bilingual segments (mostly sentences) that have already been translated ready for reuse, the terminology database is an important complement for ensuring adherence to the established terms.
Proofreading and text optimisation
We check your source texts and translations according to defined criteria (e.g. spelling, grammar, punctuation and hyphenation) and make the necessary improvements.
If you wish, we can also optimize your source texts in order to minimize avoidable additional costs for queries, proofreading runs or layout corrections in advance. The cost of awkward sentence constructions and text formatting is multiplied with each language you translate your texts into. In fact, optimizing your source texts by writing in a way that is suitable for translation is one of the best ways of saving on translation costs.
